Students at the University of Texas at Austin got a rare treat last weekend when Adm. Bill McRaven, a 1977 UT grad and 36-year SEAL, delivered their commencement speech. Head of the U.S. Special Operations Command, McRaven commanded a squadron in the fabled Naval Special Warfare Development Group, better known as SEAL Team Six, and oversaw the planning and execution of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

His speech based on the University of Texas motto “What starts here changes the world” outlines the 10 lessons he learned during his SEAL training.
