The Flying Legends Air Show is famous the world over for its unique presentation of historic piston-engined aircraft in rare combinations and remarkable flying displays. It takes place today July 12 and tomorrow Sunday, July 13.

Complementing the ‘wow!’ factor in the air is the authentic 1940s ambiance that is enjoyed throughout the weekend. It’s the closest you can get to being back at RAF Duxford in its flying heyday.

IWM Duxford is Britain’s best-preserved Second World War airfield, with a fascinating history that dates back to the First World War. Its story reflects the landmark achievements made in aviation history. The B-17 Sally B which still flies is permanently based there.

I will be visiting Duxford in August when I go to England to retrace my father’s footsteps then on to Belgium to attend the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of the Liberation of Belgium and of the B-17 Susan Ruth being shot down.  Numerous festivities will occur over several days around Momignies, Belgium.
